Oxbow Banked Slalom 2nd Edition: The recap

Oxbow is back with the second edition of the Banked Slalom, which took place on March 17, 2024, featuring Mathieu Crepel and his friends.

The event, open to all snowboarders, took place in Avoriaz with over 100 riders participating. The competition format consisted of two rounds, with the best time being recorded for the final standings.

The Banked Slalom was designed by Math Crepel, the Oxbow staff, and the Morzine-Avoriaz snowboard club, in a valley with terrain perfectly suited for banked turns, amidst the fir trees near the Arare Snowpark. The course offered varied terrain with numerous steep turns and whoops. Riders navigated between long curves and tighter ones, enhanced by bumps that some used to gain momentum or gap in ollies.

During training sessions and throughout the competition, riders enjoyed excellent visibility and sunny spells on the course, with the snow softening gradually as the runs progressed.

In the women's category, Maisie Potter took first place with a lead of 66 hundredths over Morgan Tommy Martin, closely followed by our rider Tiphanie Perrotin, who secured third place. Special mention to Kim Martinez (4th) for her old-school attire and Victoria Edel (5th) for her incredible vintage wetsuit.

In the men's category, the host Mathieu Crépel secured a solid 2nd place. Behind him, Stan (aka Pierre Jacquemoud) took 3rd place. Paul Lambersens (the winner of last year's first edition) emerged victorious in this second edition with an efficient style.

Special mention to Paul Veron, Juan Cachat, and Mathis Bozzolo for making it into the top 10 with runs that left a mark on the Banked Slalom.

The prize-giving ceremony took place on the packed terrace of the Le Changabang restaurant, which offered a special menu for riders, including its legendary twisters.

Oxbow provided Pohosnow sweaters and gift vouchers for each rider on the podiums, Nidecker offered Supermatic boards and bindings, Möken gave a pair of sunglasses to each rider on the podiums, and NST provided an eco-friendly wax box to each registered rider.
