His Story

Jean Penninck has always let improvisation guide his life, his artistic projects, and his surfing. Having spent a childhood without a fixed home, moving all across France, he remains open to opportunities and draws inspiration from the people he meets to find his path. Drawn by the waves, nature, and culture of the Basque Country, he has made this region—with its strong identity—his adopted home for the past 15 years. Skip Frye, Donald Takayama, Marc Andreini... Jean draws inspiration from legendary surfboard shapers and their designs, reinterpreting them in his own unique way.

Whether in photography, surfing, or shaping, what matters most to Jean is that his creations embody "spirit and heart."
