FLYINGPETA
Handshapped surfboard by PETA
The « Flying Peta » is the fruit of a collaboration between three exceptional personalities: our ambassador Arnaud Mestelan, Australian aboriginal surfer Robbie Page, and artisan shaper Peta.

Built as a Thruster, the flying Peta has, however, an old-school outline inspired by a 1980 Willis single fin brought back from Hawaii by Arnaud's dad. His dad ended up breaking the original board surfing at Lafitenia.
Determined to revive the original spirit of this board, Arnaud created the new board to go surfing in Australia with his buddy Robbie Page. A memorable trip featured in the film Walkabout: The songlines of surfing.
The board's artwork is based on Robbie Page's aboriginal paintings, with the size and placement of the OXBOW logos recalling the golden age of the 80’s.

And it’s Arnaud’s pal Eduardo, also known as Peta who shapes the board.

A local figure in the Spanish Basque country, Peta began surfing at the age of 13.
At the time, the young boy would paddle from Hondarribia to go surfing in Hendaye but sometimes came up against border controls in the water between France and Spain, forcing him to turn back or hide in the rocks...
He then discovered the spots in Guéthary, Anglet, Bidart and Hossegor, and a new world of surfing opened up to him.
After working in Indonesia on a surf trip charter, he returned to his native Basque country in 2008, where he started shaping in his aunt's garage to make some money.
In 2010, he met Californian Josh Hall, who invited him to his San Diego workshop to shape together. He also met the legend Skip Frye. Rich experiences that still influence his shapes today.
Peta's approach to shaping surfboards is traditional: he embraces the essence of old-school boards and incorporates modern adjustments suited to local waves. An approach that appeals to top surfers like Michael February.
